JP Senior Boys Party
Last night, the Senior Boys at Prep stayed within tradition and hosted a party for the seniors, juniors and invited guests. Each boy was allowed to invite 3 people from other schools as long as they were juniors or seniors. It was held at the Auditorium in the Fondren District. They did a really good job with the lighting and it had the feel of "Saturday Night Fever" minus the lighted dance floor! I kept thinking to myself how great it would have been to have had a place like Nighttown in Destin for this theme! I remember their lighted dance floor from just a few trips I made their in college! ;) There were some great costumes that added so much to the fun!
Mandy Shumaker did a wonderful job in planning & coordinating everything! My first job a few weeks ago was to take the picture for the invitation, design it and to have them printed. I had a few small issues, but checked that off my list. We decided to print posters as favors for all of the senior boys, so I uploaded them to Sams yesterday. The email stated that they would be ready to pick up at 8:22 pm, but I called and they said I could pick them up at 8:00. Before I left, I checked online to make sure they were ready and it said "Processed & Ready for pick up". When I got there, only half were ready. The rude lady said the machine ran out of paper and no one knew how to put a new roll in. I told her about "Processed & Ready for pick up" and she said "I can tell you that it does NOT say that because it's done by computer! And by the way, it doesn't matter that they aren't ready because the photo shop closes at 8 and it's 8:05!" Oh no she didn't just say that? I pulled it up on my iPhone and tried to show her what it said and she said "Lady, you can get that out of my face because I don't want to see it". I left there shaking I was so mad. (By the way, Sams called today. The photo lab lady said she has no idea why they didn't call me AND THE PHOTO LAB CLOSES AT 8:30) She wants me to talk to their manager. Patricia is in hot water, I do believe. I cooled off before I got to the Auditorium, but had no idea what was coming next.
When I took the boys group picture, I also took some individual shots of them being silly. Yesterday, I made a slideshow of the pics and added pictures from the movie Saturday Night Fever. Finished it around 6:30 last night. Put the CD in my purse to take with me at 8pm to set up and checked that off my list. After my Sam's issue, I showed up ready to put that problem behind me. After I unloaded my junk, I gave the hostess the cd with the slideshow. She was really sweet and said "Oh, our projector isn't working". I felt the color fade from my face and this sick feeling that I had wasted a beautiful Saturday afternoon at home alone and an empty lounge chair by the pool I could've put to good use! Tim Shumaker said he had a projector and would run home to get it. Yes, run home from downtown Jackson.... all the way out to our neighborhood at the Reservoir! He made it back and got it working not long after all of the kids arrived. He got it playing and it was all worth it seeing the kids laugh and point to the screen at the pics! Something happened to the format when he had to move it from CD to DVD, so some pics weren't sized for the screen... but it played and that was better than the alternative!
I'm tired, I admit. I wanted to plant flowers in my pots today, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I may need to re-group and do it this week. I just hate that all of the boats ride by and see my poor, empty pots when I'm sure my neighbors have theirs all done! Oh well... flowers can wait. The kids had fun and that's all that matters!
