For some reason, First Pres did not return to school today. Prep does, but Leigh Ashley has one more day. Well, actually we both have one more day. Zachary wakes up on his own and drives himself to school, so we were able to sleep in this morning.
It's been a tough week around our house. Leigh Ashley had pneumonia. So, we were cooped up in the house from the 27th until the 4th of January. Her gift cards were burning a hole in her pocket, so she was ready to get out and shop! She started out with bronchitis and a few days later it had turned into pneumonia. When the nurse gave her a shot last Monday, she had a seizure. Well, that's what the nurse thought. The doctor wasn't in the room, but came in afterwards. He said it could have been caused by anxiety. It really scared me whatever it was. Then later after we got home, she had a spell where she couldn't see or walk. It passed after a few minutes. I called the office and the nurse said it was most likely caused by the cough medicine. I gave her the same medicine the following day (New Year's Day) and she was bouncing off the walls! I even gave her the drunk test to see how she did. She passed with flying colors. So, I'm really not satisfied with "it's most likely the medicine". Not after what happened earlier in the day at the doctors office. I called Dr. Fredricks office and asked her nurse if I had reason to be concerned. She said that she needed to see a Pediatric Neurologist. I called the nurse at Children's medical and told me that if it were her daughter, she'd want it checked out also. Why didn't she tell me that on New Year's eve? Then she says that it will take 3 months to get in to see a ped neurologist.
I hate to ask for favors, but I'll do anything for my child's health. So, I sent an email asking if anyone had connections with the ped neurology dept at UMC. Before I ever sent the email, my sister-in-law had told her dad about it and he had called a friend at UMC. I got a call from my friend, Ginger telling me that she had a friend who is a neuro surgeon that didn't mind if I call him. He was the nicest man! He said that he would see what he could do when he finished surgery and call me back. He called me back a couple of hours later and said that by the time he got down there, it had already been taken care of! Her appointment is Tuesday. He said I've got a lot of friends jumping through hoops for me. He helped me by writing a referral (that childrens medical had not sent yet) that she needed. Thanks to Amy's dad, Noel for calling his friend with a lot of pull and to Ginger for asking a favor from a friend for a friend! I am so thankful for my family and friends who will jump through hoops for me! It means so much. I have had so many check with me to make sure I got it taken care of. I appreciate the love and concern of everyone.
Mark is seeing the oncologist on Wednesday. I will feel much better after she looks over things and gives her opinion. The urologist said he will not need treatment afterwards, but I want to here it from a cancer doctor. I also want to make sure he's tested to see if it's anywhere else.
I'll keep you posted.
