I just got home from my morning routine...say hello to my neighbors as we jump in the car, creep down Old Fannin, fight Lakeland Drive (while seeing the same cars I see every day!), drive down bumpy, Riverside Drive, drop off Leigh Ashley at FP, then circle around back down bumpy, Riverside Drive...... I see the same people every day doing the same thing--just going through the morning routine.
My routine, after dropping off Leigh Ashley is to crank up my iPod to play through my car speakers. I'm a music freak and my iPod contents would shock many of you! I call it "well-rounded" and having a great appreciation for music! ;) I can rock with the best of them with Kiss, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Poison, etc! I love classic country like Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, etc. Yes, I did sing "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man" at a school talent show to send a message to a girl who was interested in my boyfriend (9th grade, I think--I can't believe I just admitted that!) Her name was Stephanie Smith and she still reminds me of it! Thankfully, we both got smart and became close friends after that and still are today. I've got Broadway tunes, Streisand, Gladys Knight and the biggest collection of hits from the 70's and 80's you've ever seen! "No Parkin' on the Dance Floor", "Funkytown", "P.Y.T." (Michael Jackson before he wacked out!) and other dance music that brings back lots of memories of dances at the Pistol Range after the football games! I love all my praise music I've collected over the past few years. I've got a big variety there also--everything from traditional gospel to contemp Christian.
Any of you who have visited my .mac site with my pictures, may have seen the words to "Good to Go" by Jason Aldean. Zachary called me in his room one night wanting me to listen to a song. After listening to it, I told him that song says it all! I was so proud that he recognized the powerful message in the lyrics. It's my life. It's a song about "being blessed". It speaks of the "undeserved blessings that I have, all-American mom & dad and some of the coolest friends I you could ever have". That's an understatement in my life. I do have the best mom and dad! I can't even go there this morning or I won't ever finish this post! Another day.... I do have the absolute coolest friends! I've been blessed with many friends that I know I can always count on. That's a post for another day, also! Every line of that song relates to my life. I won't go through the entire song right now.
The chorus rest of the chorus says
"I'm not plannin' on leaving yet, but the truth is you just never know
and if this is as good as it gets--man, I think I'm good to go"
So, if you see me driving across the causeway with the windows down and my hands out of the sunroof, you'll know I'm jammin' to Jason Aldean. It's something about the way the sun looks over the reservoir early in the morning--it just calls for a moment to reflect on things. Try it.....
