You know the saying "too many irons in the fire"? Well, I've got too many worldwide web communication methods and not using any of the very well! It's been too long since I've posted an update here, so I'm not even going to try to recap the summer. I'll just start fresh. I've got to admit that I've become addicted to Facebook! It's not just for high school and college kids. There are lots of adults using it. A friend sent me the invitation link to join Facebook, but I thought that Zachary would die if his mom was on it! I found out that as long as he wasn't one of my "friends", our pages wouldn't be linked. So, I set up my account and was very surprised what I found. It will check your address book and tell you if any of your contacts have profiles on Facebook. Tons of people had accounts, so it sent "friend request" to them. Now I can keep in touch with friends from high school, college and church with Facebook. I also have a MySpace page (that I had just started when my friend suggested Facebook), but use it much. There's too much trashy stuff on it and it's harder to use. I still try to check it a few times a week because I have some friends on it that do not have Facebook pages.
I am so thankful for my relationship with Zachary. I was wrong when I thought he wouldn't want to be connected with my Facebook profile. I'm now one of his "friends". I've started posting all of my pictures that I take at Prep on there for the kids to see. Instead of just taking pictures of my kids, I take pictures of all the kids. I love all these kids and I enjoy taking pictures that they'll be able to look back on years from now and remember their high school years. What teenager doesn't like to see his picture posted on Facebook? They can "tag" them so that they will show up on their profile page. Parents need to do things to support other kids and lift them up when they can. That brings up another subject, but I'll save it for another post.
Last Friday, Prep's football season began. The weather sure didn't feel like football season! I have never been that hot in my life! I help with filming for the sideline highlight videos and I fit right in being wet and sweaty on the sidelines! I hope Friday night is a little cooler for the JA game. Zachary starts on the offensive line this year, so he was excited about the first win of the season. In Saturday's Clarion Ledger, there was a great picture of Pack Toler (one of the quarterbacks) dropping back to pass and Zachary was shown blocking for him. It didn't identify him, but you could see #52. I was so proud of all the players!
Leigh Ashley really likes her teacher this year. Her name is Sara Ulmer and she's wonderful! Leigh Ashley needed someone like her after last year's teacher. I won't even go there, but I'm glad she was only at First Pres for one year. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. She's a 5th grade cheerleader this year and has enjoyed learning the cheers and chants. Dance begins next week, so we will be in high gear with her cheering on Tuesday nights and three days of dance classes.
Ok, I'll post more often so I don't write such long post. Guess we will all be tuned in to the weather channel to see what direction the hurricane is heading. I heard today that many stores in Hattiesburg have sold out of bottled water. In the past, I would have said they are jumping the gun..... three years ago changed my way of thinking.
