I've not been very good at keeping my blog updated, but I'm going to attempt to backtrack a bit and see what I get accomplished.
Our summer started off with "First Week" in Destin. We've always stayed in Sandestin, but decided to stay close to where Zachary's friends were staying. Someone had told me that lots of JP kids stay on Holiday Isle, so I started checking into it. I thought it would be better to be near where my teenager would want to be instead of him driving back and forth to hang out with friends. Holly & Ed May were going at the same time and suggested the Aegean. I read several things on the internet that said that the beaches had not been rebuilt after the hurricane, but talked to one of the condo owners and she sent pictures showing that it had been done in front of the Aegean. I booked a two bedroom beach front condo for 5 nights and it was a great deal. The condo had been totally redone and it was perfect. The Aegean is a small complex and I really like how it's not so far to walk to the beach or pool. No traffic and the beaches aren't crowded! We loved it! I guess since Zachary's my first teenager, I'm learning as I go. Holiday Isle was perfect because all the kids were in walking distance from each other. During "First Week", it should be called "JP/JA Isle"! When sitting on the beach, I bet 7 out of 10 people who walked by were from Jackson. Apparently, it has been this way for years. This was the first Destin trip where we didn't hit all of the restaurants. We only went out to eat once and that was to AJ's. We stayed on the beach all day and ate in the condo. I know what to expect next year, though. The teenagers don't want to go out to eat, so I'm going to make casseroles ahead of time and be prepared to feed a group at a moments notice! Brittany went to the Taylor Swift concert in Orange Beach and then Zachary went and got her to stay the rest of the time with us. I've already booked the same condo for next year.
