No white after Labor Day at our house!

Finally, there's a feeling of fall in the air! As a true southern girl, my mom has pounded in my head "the no white after Labor Day" thing. I remember momma hiding our white shoes so me and my sister wouldn't wear them when she wasn't around. We all know that Labor Day doesn't mean that it's "suddenly fall" in Mississippi, but the white shoes, white shorts and white pants are put up in the Courtney house. I don't wear white shoes anyway, but Leigh Ashley does and Mark has several pair of white shorts. My "fashion diva", Leigh Ashley", is quick to point out that "everyone wears them in the magazines". Sorry, not in my house. I remember feeling weird even putting the little, white baby walking shoes on the kids after Labor Day. I would tell myself over and over--"it's ok, Melinda. All babies wear these!". I guess it's kinda like BOUNTY paper towels..my Papaw always bought them and never used anything else. I remember once at my house, I had bought another brand and he proceeded to tell me all the reasons why BOUNTY was better. He always carried one in his pocket. I have never bought anything but BOUNTY since then. It's funny...I have "a moment" each time I throw them in the buggy at the grocery when I can hear him say "it's a BOUNTY!".

I do I drive Mark crazy with all my weirdness about things like this, but this is who I am.
